The state of Texas received more than 270 proposals for its Norman Hackerman Advanced Research Program. In the end, only 12 grants were awarded, two of which went to researchers with the Cullen College of Engineering. Assistant professors of chemical and biomolecular engineering Jeff Rimer and Gila Stein each received two-year, $80,000 grants from the program, which is administered by the state’s Higher Education Coordinating Board and designed to support basic research performed by early-career investigators.
UH’s Police Department will join with other state and local law enforcement officers and highway safety advocates across the country to help save more lives by strongly enforcing seat belt laws around the clock. UHPD will participate in the 2012 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization program, which will run from May 21 to June 3.
